The Edinburgh Miltiary Tattoo started in 1950 as a small show. By 1989 there were two hundred thousand in the audience & an estimated worldwide TV audience of 60 million (according to page 25 of The Glasgow Herald, August 10th 1989.) Of the many spectacles & attractions Dave Gauder had the hardest physical job to do - he pulled an Royal Artillery Rapier Missile system on the back of a transporter (42 tonnes) every day for a month & twice on Saturdays.
